Rooibos contains Aspalathin, quercetin, notophagin, orientin, isoorientin, vitexin and isovitexin. 500 ml contains about 636±20 micromol of Aspalathin and 79±3.1 micromol of notophagin. It is slightly absorbed: from 0.2% to 2.3%, on average 0.26%. But the effect is noticeable. Within an hour, TRAP, an indicator of the overall antioxidant capacity, increases by 6.6%. This means that cells are better protected from free radicals, oxidative stress is reduced, and the aging process is slowed down.
